29 August 1791

The following is Dr. Priestley’s answer to the address of the committee of the revolution society.
Tottenham, Aug. 22
“Dear Sir,
I beg you would make my acknowledgements in the most respectful manner to the committee of the revolution society, for their very grateful address to me.
Out principles are entirely the same; and notwithstanding all opposition, must prevail in this, as well as in other countries. – Violence is temporary, but truth eternal
I am, dear Sir, your’s sincerely,
J. PRIESTLEY.”
To the Chairman of the Revolution Society.
